We shouldn’t come up with a pseudo-spiritual excuse for turning away from the pain of the world. There is nothing spiritual about complacency… These are very serious times, and serious people need to be doing some serious thinking. The last thing we should do is allowing ourselves to be infantilized by a counterfeit version of enlightenment. No true search for enlightenment ignores the suffering of other sentient beings. Ever.

  1. So, so true. I love your blog, though I only discovered it today. I’ve read quite a few of your back posts and they make me want to start making small changes in my life 🙂

  2. YES! I am so disheartened by the delusional state of so much of the healthy-living/yoga world. You can’t meditate your way out of poverty! Or racism! I appreciate the Marianne Williamson—who is certainly very respected by that community–is saying something like this. : )
